Distance Reiki, also called absentee Reiki, is healing given to someone who is not actually physically present for the session. Transmission of Reiki energy is not limited by time and space. For example, if you live in San Francisco and are to receive a Reiki healing session from a Reiki practitioner in Boston, it can be accomplished without any effort on your part, just your permission to receive Reiki. The Reiki is sent by a method the Reiki practitioner receives during their Reiki training. The amazing thing is one can receive just as beneficial effects from a long distance absent session as from a direct hands-on session. It is said that Dr. Usui Reiki, who rediscovered Reiki, preferred to do absent Reiki sessions on his clients as he felt it was more powerful than hands on. It is for this reason an absent session is of shorter duration than a hands-on session and also costs less.

The distance Reiki can work on the same issues that one would seek out from a hands-on Reiki practitioner. These would include pain, discomfort, depression and other emotional conditions, addictive behaviors and stress. Distance Reiki can be performed on your pets!

A picture would be required of the person or pet to receive Reiki. Also needed are the name, age and address of the person or pet who is to receive Reiki.
